Course DescriptionSixth grade Social Studies is a year long course focusing on the state of Minnesota.  Students will use the tools of geography, history, economics and government to engage in historical inquiry and study events, issues, and individuals significant to Minnesota history, beginning with the early indigenous people of the Mississippi River region to the present day.  Students will learn about the unique role Minnesota played, and continues to play, in the regional, national, and global setting.

We will be using a textbook from the Minnesota Historical Society, Northern Lights.  Because our students have access to Chromebooks in class, we also have access to the online textbook. Please find the login information on our Google Classroom page or email Ms. Penner. There are hard copies of the textbook available for check out in our school library media center.
